R.J. Haney Heritage Village & Museum is a treasured community gem dedicated to preserving and celebrating the rich history of Salmon Arm and its surrounding areas. Founded in 1963 on the traditional territories of the Secwepemc People, this registered not-for-profit organization offers visitors a vibrant window into the past through its engaging programs, exhibits, and events.
Set on 40 acres of scenic farmland on Salmon Arm’s east side, the Village is one of the Shuswap region’s top tourism destinations, welcoming over 20,000 visitors annually. The site features 24 historic buildings, including the 1910 Haney House, alongside 30 thoughtfully curated exhibits. The Ernie Doe Archives Room and the Montebello building — a Canada 150 project — highlight Salmon Arm’s rich heritage. Families love exploring the Children’s Museum and Outdoor Discovery Area, while the beautifully maintained gardens, Sprig of Heather restaurant, amphitheatre, and gift shop add to the welcoming atmosphere. Winding through natural woodlands and diverse climate zones, over 2 kilometers of trails along Canoe Creek invite visitors to immerse themselves in nature.
