Tucked into the Salmon Arm Valley, DeMille’s Farm Market is a third-generation family farm with deep roots in agriculture. The family originally came from California, where they were involved in both vegetable and dairy farming, before making the move to British Columbia in 1970 in search of new opportunity and fertile land. It was here that Rodger DeMille discovered what he often described as an oasis filled with the promise of nature’s bounty.
The farm’s beginnings in the valley were simple. A small roadside stand was set up alongside 10 rows of sweet corn, offering fresh produce directly to the local community. What started as a modest operation quickly gained attention and support from passing travellers and neighbours alike.
With early success came gradual growth. The following year, the cornfields expanded to 20 rows, and a wider variety of vegetables was introduced. From these small but steady steps, DeMille’s Farm Market began to take shape as a local destination built on family effort and a strong connection to the land.
Today, the farm has grown into a welcoming space where visitors can experience more than just fresh produce. One of the highlights is the on-site animal area, where guests can meet friendly farm animals including pigs, goats, llamas, and more. Animal feed is available at the market, allowing visitors to interact directly with the animals during their visit, with proceeds supporting the care of the animal habitat.
In some seasons, DeMille’s also features a corn maze, adding a fun and family-friendly activity for visitors of all ages and making the farm a popular seasonal destination in the valley.
Today, DeMille’s Farm Market continues as a family-run farm rooted in agriculture, community, and a hands-on farm experience that welcomes visitors year after year.
