Just 3 hours from Vancouver, 1.5 hours from Kelowna, and 45 minutes from Kamloops lies the little city of Merritt. Known as the Country Music Capital of Canada, Merritt has Canada’s Country Music Hall of fame and the Merritt Walk of Stars which features the hand prints and signatures of hundreds of Canadian and International country music stars.

Agriculture remains one of Merritt’s main economic sectors. It’s origin began when 3 ranches combined to become Forkdale, later renamed Merritt in honour of William Hamilton Merritt; a mining engineer and railway promoter. It is the closest centre to Canada’s largest working cattle farm; the Douglas Lake Cattle Company.
