In 1996, a roofing accident unexpectedly set the course for a new adventure in the Okanagan Valley. The Kaler family that now owns Peach Hill Farm, having never even heard of Osoyoos, was about to embark on a journey that would change their lives forever. After the injury, which left their father unable to continue his roofing career, the family took a vacation to Osoyoos. It was during this visit that relatives suggested they take a look at a local orchard. Initially, there was little interest—“Why look at an orchard? It’s not like we’re going to buy one,” was the response.
However, fate had other plans. The first orchard they visited was Peach Hill Farm. Despite having no experience in farming, the family’s entrepreneurial spirit took hold. Without hesitation, an offer was made, and soon after, the deal was accepted. Back in Vancouver, their house was sold within three days, and just like that, the family found themselves moving to the Okanagan to begin a new chapter.
Today, Peach Hill Farm stands as a testament to the family’s resilience and determination, transforming what was once an unexpected turn of events into a thriving business in the heart of Osoyoos.
